Willa Jean Roeder

Willa Jean Roeder, 75, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 3, 1947 in Neodesha, Kansas, to William and Doris Jean (Reed) Underwood.  Willa attended public schools in Eustis, Nebraska and graduated from Eustis High School with the class of 1967.

Willa was united in marriage to Delmar Roeder on November 16, 1967 in Elwood, Nebraska.  Five children were blessed to this union: Mary Elaine, Kevin, Kimberly, Darin and Candy.  The family made their home in Lexington.  Willa always kept herself busy working in the Lexington Community.  She started in housekeeping at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.  She then became the receptionist at Plum Creek Medical Group, she worked in the Deli at Rice’s Market Place and Sixth Street Food Store.  Willa was also at one time the main cook at Plum Creek Care Center and cooked at the Vet’s Club and Eagle’s Club.

Willa was an amazing cook, known for her Fried Chicken on Sundays, and many desserts, which included Carrot Cake and German Chocolate Cake.  Fond memories were made with the family around food that Willa made.  She loved attending family reunions and spending time with her family.  In her younger years she enjoyed bowling in a women’s league.  Characterized by hospitality, food, and witty-loving-care, Willa had a gift for making people feel special.

Survivors include her children, Kevin (Tirja) Roeder of Lexington, Darin and fiancé (Jessica Klein) of Lexington and Candy (Diego) Morales of Lexington; eleven grandchildren, Jacob Roeder of Lexington, Jennifer Roeder of Kearney, Dakota Roeder, Ana Morales, Yahaira Morales, Juan Morales, Oakland Roeder, Juan Morales Garcia, Ana Garcia Morales, Haiden Klein, and Isabella Klein all of Lexington; five brothers, William (Kathy) Underwood of Elwood, Kenny (Barb) Underwood of Holdrege, James (Lois) Underwood of Lexington, Rod (Lois) Underwood of Lexington and Jerry Underwood of Wilbur; sisters-in-law, Christy Underwood of Azle, Texas, Elsie Underwood of Lexington and Deloris Winchester of Kearney; two brothers-in-law, Danny (Diane) Roeder of Gibbon and Dale Roeder of Shelton; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Willa was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delmar in 2019; two daughters, Mary Elaine and Kimberly; grandchild, Skyler; three brothers, John, Arthur and Edwin Underwood; one sister, Ethel Duschanek.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the LexChristian Church with Pastor Dave Leraaen, officiating.  The Service will be live-streamed via the LexChristian Church website link. https://youtu.be/UVeEW0BG_q8

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Following the Traditional Funeral Service, cremation will take place and a private burial will be held at a later date in the Cozad Cemetery at Cozad.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
