Wayne Reeves
June 14, 1963 – July 24, 2025
Wayne Reeves, 62, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 24, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the best dad, the proudest papa, and a devoted husband of 23 years to the love of his life, Karen Reeves.
Wayne was born on June 14, 1963, in Eureka, California and then moved to Texas to work at IBP. He then moved to Nebraska. From an early age, he had a strong work ethic, a huge heart, and a love for life that followed him everywhere. He lived a life full of purpose, love, and laughter.
He worked at Bill’s Volume for many years and truly loved being part of the team. His job wasn’t just something he did — it was something he was proud of. The people he worked with became like family, and he looked forward to being there every single day.
At home, Wayne took incredible pride in having the best yard on the block. His lawn was always perfectly green and trimmed, and you could always count on seeing him outside making sure it looked just right. It was his peaceful place — a space that reflected his care and pride in everything he did.
Wayne’s biggest joy came from his family, especially his grandkids. He absolutely loved when they came over. He never let a visit go by without doing something with them — playing outside or simply sitting and enjoying time together. Every moment with his grandkids was special, and he made sure they knew just how much he loved them.
Wayne was the kind of man who made everyone feel welcome. His laugh could fill a room, his hugs were strong and comforting, and his heart was one of a kind. As a husband, father, papa, and friend — he gave his whole heart to the people he loved, and we are forever better because of him.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Karen Reeves; his children Nikki Donohue (Mike Barbee); his grandchildren: Steven Tuma, Brooklyne Tuma, Kreighton Tuma, Mikey Barbee, Raelyn Tuma, Marilyn Barbee, Maddilyne Tuma; and a lifetime of friends who were lucky enough to know him. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing Wayne will always be our brightest star, shining down on us with love, pride, and that unforgettable smile.
A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home on Thursday July 31, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Lay Minister, Sarah Neben, officiating. Please come as you are, and bring your memories, your laughter, and your love — just the way Wayne would want it.
