Russell Allen Psota, 45, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 26, 2025, at his home.
He was born on October 17, 1980, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Kirk and Janet (Spiegel) Psota. He attended school in Lexington graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1999. Russell then went on to attend the University of Nebraska- Lincoln where he was a member of the marching band, playing the baritone.
He lived in Lincoln and Omaha for several years before moving back to Lexington in 2011 to be near his family. He was a skilled worker who held various jobs, his favorite being Titan Machinery. In his free time, Russell enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and spending quality time with his family. He loved spending time with his nieces especially. He often went snowboarding with his friends and was known to be a friend to anyone he would meet. If anyone wanted to learn more about sports, Russell was the guy to go to. He was so full of sports knowledge and was known as an avid Husker fan. Russell also enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and trying all new kinds of recipes.
Those left to honor his memory are his parents, Kirk (Cheryl Reil) Psota of Lexington; sister, Rebecca Walton of Lexington; nieces, Emily and Madilyn Garrelts of Lexington; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many friends.
Russell was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Psota; grandparents, Mike and Barbara Psota, and Jack and Marilyn Spiegel, as well as his aunt, Kristine (Psota) Schneider.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 1, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Ravenna Cemetery.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
