Rolland L. (Sag) Sagesser, 87 of Johnson Lake, Nebraska passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Lexington Regional Health Center. He was born January 18, 1932, in Grand Island, Nebraska to Edward H. and Eva (Tyre) Sagesser. He attended school in Grand Island. On December 22, 1956, he was united in marriage to Beverly Faye Von Behren. Two children were blessed to this union, Cynthia Sue and Gregory Lee. Rolland served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War from December 30, 1950 until being honorably discharged on October 8, 1954. The couple purchased their home at Johnson Lake in 1970 and moved there fulltime in 1975. Rolland was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for forty-three years as a signal maintainer. Sag began his career early for the railroad as he ran telegraphs for them on his bike at the age of fourteen. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, attended the Chapel of the Lake at Johnson Lake where he was serving as a board member, the VFW and the American Legion, and was an avid golfer at Lakeside Country Club where he assisted with the Junior Golf program for sixteen years. He loved spending time with his family and going to the grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed camping, boating, snow skiing and traveling. He was well known around the lake for his flowers that he grew and maintained. Survivors include his daughter: Cyndi and husband Dan Smith of Johnson Lake, four grandchildren: Korey Smith of Hastings, Brady and wife Madelyne Smith of Phoenix, Arizona, Kapra and husband Nolan Freeman of Lake of the Ozarks and Brenna and husband Joshua Richie of Cozad. Four great grandchildren: Everly Freeman, Mia Richie, Aaliyah Richie and Behren Richie. His is also survived by his beloved bird, Sunny as well as extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverly in 2007, his son, Gregory in 1976, a sister, Berdene Sagesser and his brother, Wilmer Sagesser. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner and Pastor Bill Ohlmann, Officiants. Interment with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or The Chapel Of The Lake.
