Roberta Emma Stewart, 93 of Lexington passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Roberta was born August 27, 1925 in Ord, Nebraska to Dan and Emma (Graul) Cook. She attended school in Ord and graduated with the Class Of 1943. After graduation she taught school at a rural school south of Ord. She was united in marriage to Floyd Stewart on June 6, 1946 in Ord. The couple lived south of Ord, moved to Platte County and then returned to Ord. The couple was blessed with three children; Cheri, Ron and Dan. Roberta graduated from Kearney State College in 1968 and began her career teaching. She taught Senior High School Business classes for over twenty years at the Cozad High School. Roberta moved to Avamere in Lexington and later to Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Roberta enjoyed playing the piano, bridge, growing flowers and gardening but her greatest love was watching birds feed in her bird feeder. Survivors include one son, Dan and wife Donita of Lexington one daughter, Cheri and husband Joel Warren of Wood River, Nebraska. Three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren: one sister, Marilyn and husband Charles Stuber of Raleigh, North Carolina. Also surviving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as many past students and friends. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, son; Ronald, son-in-law; Jim, brother and sister-in-law; Bill and Evelyn Cook and grandson Shawn Nikkila. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with the Reverend Doug Gahn, officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment will be Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Ord City Cemetery in Ord at 3:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Dawson County Relay For Life.
