Phyllis Joyce Taft, 90 of Elwood formerly of Lexington and Johnson Lake, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Cozad Community Hospital. Phyllis was born July 8, 1928 in Lincoln, Ne. to Edwin and Florence (Parkhurst) Geistlinger. Phyllis attended school in Lincoln and graduated with the class of 1946 from Lincoln High School. On December 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Joseph Leonard Taft at her parent’s home in Lincoln. To this union four children were born; Michael, Timothy, Dale and Rebecca. In Lincoln Phyllis was employed by Lincoln Telephone Company and Korsmeyer Electric. On March 1, 1953 the couple moved to Lexington and Phyllis worked for KRVN Radio station for nine years and was later employed as a book keeper for Cornland Dressed Beef for twenty-five years until the plant closed. In 1990 the couple moved to their home at Johnson Lake. Phyllis enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, crocheting, knitting and embroidery. She also loved to spend time with family and friends. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Joe off Elwood, two sons: Tim of Lincoln and Dale and wife Cheryl of Elwood. Six grandchildren; Kimberly and husband Clinton Jones, Chris, Wade and wife Shirley, Casey and wife Rene, Derek and wife Amy and Drew and wife Melissa. Nine great-grandchildren: Lucca, Reuben, Braylon, Audrey, Zoey, Billy, Brianna, Emily and Lily. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Geistlinger and Florence Geistlinger Davis, step father; John Davis, infant daughter, Rebecca Joy, son Michael, two brothers: Jim and Bud, a sister, Evelyn and a daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Taft. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastors William Ohlmann and Michael Wolff, officiating. The family suggests casual attire. Inurnment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Johnson lake EMS or to the family for later designation.
