Phil Davidson Kleppinger, 84, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at Elwood Care Center with his family by his side.
Phil was born on March 22, 1942, in Fort Knox KY, to Dr. Phil and Marguerite Kleppinger. He was a graduate of Beatrice High School in 1960 and Wentworth Military Academy for junior college.
He was married to Marlene Rowan on February 27, 1970, at First Lutheran Church at Buffalo. This marriage was blessed with four children.
He was an entrepreneur and owned multiple businesses over his lifetime. Sales was his specialty. He had the ability to sell ice to an Eskimo. Phil truly lived life to the fullest with his hobbies. They included duck hunting, turkey hunting, pheasant hunting, fishing, woodworking, his award-winning BBQ, and a passion for his yard. He won yard of the week many times. He was also a gifted wildlife photographer.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene of 56 years of Elwood, his children Monica (Robert) Huebner of Council Bluffs IA, John (Melissa) Kleppinger of Fruita CO, and James (Jill) Kleppinger of Lincoln NE, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one on the way, as well as many extended family members.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents Phil and Marguerite, his in-laws Lena and John Rowan, son Jason, and grandson Max.
The service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 10:30 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska, with Reverend Aaron Witt officiating.
The visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 4-6 pm at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska.
Burial will be held at a later date.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the Elwood Senior Center or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood, Nebraska.
