Penny Dorwart, 77, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Sunday, May 13, 2018 at her residence in Lexington. Penny was born on March 16, 1941. She was raised by Harry E. and Emily May (Waters) Dorwart. She attended school in Lexington until the 8th grade before moving and graduating High School at Our Lady Of Angels Academy in Clinton, Iowa with the class of 1959. She then attended Nursing school where she earned her degree from Creighton Memorial Saint Joseph’s Hospital Of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska with the class of 1963. Penny worked in Seattle and Denver as a nurse before settling down back in Lexington to take care of her mother and began working at Tri-City Hospital in Lexington on June 18, 1979. She would become a fixture at the hospital over the next 30 years before retiring on August 26, 2010. Penny also worked on the Ambulance Crew in the late 70’s and early 80’s. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling and spending time with her horses. Penny was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Penny is survived by her brother, Harry “Dick” Richard (Carolyn) Dorwart of Oregon. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dan. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel with Reverend Matt Koperski, officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Lakeside Golf Club. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
