Norma Jean (Wallace) Eby, age 90, formerly of Overton, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington.

She was born on December 21, 1935, to Edward and Margaret Wallace. She grew up in the Eddyville-Sumner area on Pigeon Ranch and graduated from Sumner High School in 1953. After high school, Norma moved to Lexington and worked at the telephone office. It was while living in Lexington that she met Floyd C Eby. They married on June 25, 1956, and made their home in Overton. To this union seven children were born.

Floyd and Norma lived in Overton until 1963 when they purchased a farm north of Overton that Norma still owns today. When the last of the seven children started school, Norma went to work at Plectron in Overton and later worked at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington until her retirement at age 72.

Floyd passed away in 1989 after 32 years of marriage.

Norma loved to bowl and for years enjoyed being in a bowling league at the lanes in Lexington. She also enjoyed the bus trips to nearby casinos for a little gambling with her friends. She had quite a competitive streak which came out often when playing a game of cards or Yahtzee with the kids and grandkids. All you had to do was mention a round of “knock” and she’d run to grab her quarters. She was an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and Husker football, but her greatest love was following her children, and especially her grandchildren, in their many activities. She attended countless ball games and even braved the elements to follow the kids to many track meets over the years. One of her greatest legacies to be passed on was her infamous ice cream dessert. Many of her children and grandchildren have perfected this recipe that was often made by grandma at special events.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton.

Norma is survived by sons, Faron (Drey) Eby of Overton, Donald (Deanna) Eby of Kearney, daughters Deaetta (Tom) Larson of Lexington, Dianna Eby of Overton, Dorothea (Brian) Rosacker of Lexington, Barbara (Doug) Rohde of Sumner and Loretta (Casey) Blotske of Wilton, ND.
