Neta Joyce Anderson, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at her home.
She was born on March 29, 1943, at home in Bassett, Nebraska, to Robert and Velma (Slattery) Kaufman. She attended Bassett Public Schools in Bassett, Nebraska. On September 17, 1961, Neta was united in marriage to Harold Anderson at the Bassett Lutheran Church. Two sons were blessed to this union: Daniel and David.
Hard work was not unknown to Neta and held many different jobs throughout the years. She worked as a custodian for Halsey Public School, Lexington Coop, and Pamida as well as working on the sales floor. She worked in the deli at Rice's Grocery Store. She was a cook for the Lexington Public Schools, drove the Handi Bus for the Lexington Senior Center, and in her younger years, hauled sugar beets and corn during the harvest seasons.
She enjoyed working with her hands, quilting and refinishing furniture and upholstery. Neta spent a great deal of time outdoors camping with her family and was a Cub and Boy Scout leader with her son, David and her great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to Neta, and she loved getting to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching their activities and enjoying special moments with them.
Those left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Harold Anderson of Lexington; sons, Daniel (Sharon) Anderson of Lexington, and David (Joyce) Anderson of McCook; grandchildren, Denise Anderson, Tamara Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Kacy Anderson, and Amanda Anderson; great-grandchildren, Titus Anderson, Morianna Anderson, Maximas Grandon, Jaden Juel, Alan Juel, Zachary Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Leyla Anderson, Luciano Flores-Anderson, and Caleb Flores; sisters, Leona Swinney, and Twilla Botsford; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Neta was preceded in death by her infant sister, Iva Bell Kaufman.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Chaplain Lonna Grabenstein from Brookstone Home Health and Hospice officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Graveside Services will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lexington.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the Orthman Community YMCA or the Cozad Hospital Foundation.
