Nancy I. Shepard

Nancy I. Shepard, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving daughters.

She was born on June 14, 1941 in Vermillion, South Dakota to Albert and Gladys (Gobell) Shepard. She attended public schools in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1959. While in high school, Nancy worked as a telephone operator.

Following high school, Nancy always kept herself busy working. She worked for the City of Lexington, Pamida in the offices and Home Federal Bank. Nancy then worked at Sperry New Holland until it closed. She would spend the next twenty plus years working for the ASCS on Farmer's Loans.

Nancy had unconditional love for her family. She loved spending her days with her daughters and her grandchildren. In her younger years she was active in her children's and grandchildren's lives, whether it was attending high school sporting events or school activities. She enjoyed traveling with her sister, Sue and still talked about her girl's trip to Branson.

She also enjoyed bowling and being a member of the Eastern Star and Birthday Club.

It's hard to describe a person in a few words, especially a person like Nancy. But warmth, kindness, love and laughter are the words that seem to characterize her best.

Survivors include her daughters, Christine (David) Luong of Seward and Colleen Ladwig of Lexington; three grandchildren, Jason (Johanna) Luong of Fort Worth, Texas, Christopher Wescoat of Cozad and Mandy (Travis) Harvey of Bertrand; two great-grandchildren, Sunny Luong and Ryker Harvey; siblings, Jim (Renata) Shepard of Clearwater, Florida and Susan (Ron) Gray of Lexington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Mike Ladwig and grandson, Joshua Luong.

A Celebration Of Life Service for Nancy will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Following the Celebration of Life, cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
