Myra Ringenberg

Myra Ringenberg, 101, passed away peacefully with family by her side Sunday morning, August 10, 2025, at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington.

She was born on April 30, 1924, to Marvin and Henrietta (Roe) Berg in Hibbing, Minnesota. She attended high school at the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minnesota and graduated with the class of 1942. Myra lived in Lebo, Kansas before making her final home in Lexington in 1951.

Myra was known as "The Hat Lady", always wearing fun and beautiful hats wherever she went. She was a very active member in her community and was once crowned as the Plum Creek Days homecoming queen. She was a proud member of several organizations including, the Christian Women's Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kearney Eagles Auxiliary, Holdrege Auxiliary 3132, and the Dawson County Historical Society. She was a devout member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed participating in the church activities.

Myra enjoyed hunting and fishing with the family and participating with the kids in many outdoor activities like camping in Colorado, archery, bowling and water sports. She loved music, to square dance and played a mean piano. Myra was the best cook for all the wild game Ed brought home, like elk, antilope, deer, ducks and geese and lots of fish. She cherished her many pets over the years, and always said “be kind to everyone, but especially the animals”.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dan Nelson of Lincoln, Dr. Lynn Ringenberg of Tampa, Florida, Elaine Cox of Lexington, and her special niece Joann Reiners of Lexington, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and many friends.

Besides her parents, Myra was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Ringenberg; son, Glenn Ringenberg, brother’s, Jody and James Berg; daughters in law, Linda Nelson and Sue Ringenberg and son in law, Clifford Cox.

Per her wishes there will be no funeral services. There will be a gathering for family and close friends at Robb Cemetery at a later date.
