Michael Atkins

Michael Atkins, 34, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Michael was born on January 13th 1990, in Portland, Oregon, to Michael and Patricia (McGonigle) Atkins. He attended public schools in Portland. 

In 2004, Michael moved to Lexington, Nebraska to be closer to his mother. Michael was united in marriage to Rebekah Hunt on December 21, 2012, in Grand Island. Three children were blessed to this union: Ava, Xavier and Michael Jr. Michael worked at Salvage Outlet in Grand Island as the manager. 

Over the years, Michael had many hobbies, including skateboarding, swimming, lifting weights, collecting Pokémon cards, cooking, rapping and most any other adventurous thing you can think of. He loved spending time with his family, friends.

Michael will long be remembered as the guy who always had a winning smile, a ready laugh, a joke or just a shoulder to all who loved him. He was kind, caring, sweet, corny, entertaining, loving and most of all he was proud of his family. Michael loved many, was loved by many and will continue to be loved and missed by many.

Survivors include his parents, Michael Atkins of Portland, Oregon and Patricia Lahti of Lexington; his children, Braden Winters of Gothenburg, Ava, Xavier and Michael Atkins Jr, all of Wood River, and Everhett Sapp of Lincoln; three sisters, Staci Lahti of Sandy, Oregon, Amber (Carl) Atkins of Portland, Oregon and Stephanie (Ruben) Leyva of Boise, Idaho; ex-wife Rebekah Atkins of Wood River; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew and other extended family members and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Michael with family and friends at The Refuge Celebrate Recovery building in Lexington at 1105 Park Street, at 5:30 p.m.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
