Merlin W. "Butch" Richardson, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 17, 2025, at his home.

He was born on November 7, 1943, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Willis and Thelma (Wood) Richardson. He attended Morton Elementary until his 8th grade year. Butch was an incredibly hard-working man, dedicating many years to several companies, including driving truck for Stieb’s, hauling fertilizer for Coop, as well as working for Cornland Dressed Beef and later IBP as a supervisor. In his younger years, Butch worked in the oil fields in Texas.

On April 18, 1964, he was united in marriage to Diane Dickerson in Lexington, beginning a loving union that would span 61 years. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Sherri and Nikki.

Butch was a devout member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, rarely ever missing a service for over 50 years. In the past, Butch was a member of the Men’s Slow Pitch, Plum Creek Posse, the Black Powder Club, and was a part of the Plum Creek Days. When he wasn’t busy working, Butch was outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughters, Sherri (Felipe Cardenas) Richardson, and Nikki Moats, both of Lexington; grandchildren, McKinna (Ajay Ambrose) Moats, and Dakota Rima; great-grandchildren, James Rima and Alexis Rima; brother, Terry Richardson of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Jo Elaine (Marty) Fuchs of Dallas, Texas; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Richardson; brother, Randy (Peggy) Richardson, and sister Sharon (Frank) Buck.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Rex Adams, officiating.
