Mary was born on April 30, 1928 in a farmhouse near St. Mary, Nebraska, to Ralph and Victoria (Pientka) Lempka. She attended St. Mary School. Mary received her First Communion and Confirmation at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. On April 19, 1949, Mary married Norm Goracke and moved to Lincoln where she worked at Russell Stover Candies.
