Mary Elizabeth Potter Gleason was born on March 16, 1949, on the farm to Daniel and Hellen McCance Potter. The family moved to Cozad where she attended Cozad Public School. She graduated in May 1967, and on December 20, 1969, she married James (Jim) Gleason, and they began their life together, raising two sons: Jeffery (Jeff) Gleason and James Gleason in Kearney where they hosted three grandsons: Nathan, Trevor, Logan, and one granddaughter: Josie.

They enjoyed following the grandsons' sports and music activities throughout high school and college. She almost never missed an event and never missed an opportunity to support them by filming and taking pictures and that is why she is never in the photos; she was always behind the camera. She always enjoyed when Friday would come around. When she got home from work, it was time to put on layers of clothes if it was cold and her famous fuzzy socks. She couldn't have too many socks on to keep her feet warm. She was a weekend warrior.

She was devoted to her husband of 55 years and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her mother and father, and brothers and sisters. Mary was active in band and Rebecca's while in high school, and she served as State Rebecca's President and took a trip to New York. She played the flute in the Cozad High School Band, was a crafty person and a scrap booking person who loved pictures and putting together family albums. She loved her flowers and getting her hand in the soil. She received Yard of the Month for her flowers. She loved to decorate the tables at the church, and she loved decorating for Christmas. She taught Sunday School and helped with Bible School often.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Kearney; two sons, Jeff and his wife Kim, who had a special place in Mary's heart, whom she loved very much) of Grand Island, James of Kansas City; grandsons, Nathan of Grand Island, Trevor (Abby) of Glenvil, Nebraska, Logan (Hannah) of Lincoln; granddaughter, Josie of McCook; two great-granddaughters, Hadley Jo and Steve Noel of Glenvil; two great-grandsons, Tate Joseph and Barrett Chase, who is with the Lord. Barrett was born on September 11th and went to Heaven to wait for his great-grandma Gleason. Mary is also survived by her sister, Shirley McKelvey, Bev Hanson, and Gloria (Ross) Kloepping; four brothers, Charles (Jean), Henry (Pat), Gary (Susan), and Lloyd; brother-in-law, Larry Gleason and Shirley Gleason Wells and special friends, Justin and Destiny, as well as several nieces and nephews on the Potter side and the Gleason side of the family.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her grandparents, two children and great-grandson, as well as several aunts and uncles and several sisters and brothers-in-law.

We wish to thank you for all your prayers and the excellent care she was given.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
