Mary Margaret Davey, 82, of Overton, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 5, 1944, in Walla Walla, Washington, to Theodore and Margery (Bergevin) Smith. She attended school in Moses Lake, Washington, and graduated from high school with the class of 1962. She went on to attend Cosmetology school in Walla Walla, but later returned to Moses Lake. On July 28, 1963, Mary was united in marriage to Alvin Davey in Enumclaw, Washington. Three children were blessed to this union: Trudy, Tammy, and Ron. The family later moved back to the family ranch in Moses Lake. The marriage would later end in divorce and Mary was later united in marriage to Gary A. Thaden on April 24, 1979, and they made their home in Pleasanton until 1986, when she returned to Washington to take care of her mother. In 2018, Mary made her home once again in Nebraska.

Mary was known as a caregiver through and through. She devoted much of her life to helping others during their times of need. If you needed a helping hand, Mary was there. She would move heaven and earth for anyone, though especially for her children. She loved spending her days with her kids, playing cards or beating them at Yahtzee, and always enjoyed watching the Seahawks, Mariners, and the Nebraska Huskers. During her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and baking goodies for her children and grandchildren. She was devout in her faith and never missed bible study.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Trudy Davey, Tammy (Larry) Hunt, and Ron (Chris) Davey; brother, Gus Smith; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, whom she greatly adored.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her grandsons, Brandon Davey and Christopher Davey.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Overton Christian Church in Overton with Pastor Will Thompson officiating.

Inurnment will follow at the Pleasanton Cemetery in Pleasanton, Nebraska.
