She had met numerous celebrities during her life and met even more while employed at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. She partied with B.B. King and was invited to go backstage with Elvis. She had met Liberace and grew up with Brenda Lee.

She was known as “Nana” and had a nickname for almost all her grandchildren. She dressed up every year for Halloween and made sure she took the grandkids shopping so they could get Mother’s Day or birthday gifts for their mothers. She loved taking road trips, staying in hotels, and eating out with family whenever possible.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Boswell, her son, Robert Bennett, and her brothers, Charles Madison. Boswell, Jr., and Robert Sheehan Boswell. Her ex-husband, Ronald A. Bennett, her fiancé and love of her life, Eugene Dougherty, along with nephews, Robert Sheehan Boswell, II, and Gregory Wayne Boswell.
