Marilyn J. Smith, age 86 of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, surrounded by family.

Marilyn was born May 6, 1939, in Alma, Nebraska, to Ronald and Ethel (Metzger) Quinn. She attended Rock Island Country School and graduated from Gothenburg High School.

On September 28, 1959, Marilyn married Robert R. Smith. This union was blessed with two daughters in Lexington, Nebraska where they made a home. Marilyn began working in healthcare at an early age and continued on this career path through retirement, dedicating 64 years.

Over the last several years, Marilyn enjoyed many adventures. She traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, and even rode her trike to Sturgis, South Dakota. She enjoyed collecting sea shells in Florida, and reading her books at the cabin overlooking Table Rock Lake. Marilyn had many hobbies; such as knitting, crocheting, and her love for her garden and flowers. However, Marilyn's love for her family was endless. She enjoyed conversations with her daughters and spending time with her 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandsons, and her great great granddaughter.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. Her parents Ronald Quinn and Ethel Wineland. Siblings Bev Nelson, Joyce Wade, Shelley Quinn, and Jackie Quinn.

Survivors include two sisters; Barb (Jim) Maloney of Alda, Bonnie (Ron) Daake of Overton. Two daughters; Kelly McGuire of Lexington, Kamie (Merle) Glassmeyer of Catawba, NC. Three grandchildren; Brandi (David) Basurto of Lincoln, Eric Keeton of Lexington, and Russell (Nichole) Glassmeyer of Kearney. Eight great grandsons; Reiley (Bailey Welchoff) Basurto, Quincy Keeton, Caden (Chloe Colgrove) Basurto, Kristian Keeton, Nolan Basurto, Carter Keeton, Jaxson Keeton, and Mason Glassmeyer, and Two great great granddaughters; Charlie Basurto and soon to arrive Juniper Basurto, along with many other relatives and friends.

Upon Marilyn's wishes her request was cremation. Interment will be at the Highlands Cemetery in Bertrand, Nebraska. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Bonnie Brock, officiating. The service will be livestreamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the Grand Generation Center in Lexington.
