Marcela Rodriguez, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at CHI Health – Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy. She was born January 27, 1945 in Citalá, Chalatenango, El Salvador to Santos and Concepción (Rodriguez) Guevara. Marcela grew up in El Salvador and moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 1996 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She worked at Tyson for ten years before retiring to help raise her grandchildren. Marcela loved planting flowers and had quite the “green thumb.” She was an amazing cook and loved spending time with her family. Marcela was a hard worker, very charismatic and generous beyond imaginable. She will be greatly missed. She was a devout member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and was always guiding the spiritual lives of her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Yanira (Luis) López of Lexington, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Marcela Maria López and fiancé Gerardo Saldaña of Gretna, Nebraska, Ana Regina López of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Cristian Alexander López (Lucero Flores) of Lincoln, Nebraska; one great grandchild, Emilio Alejandro López also of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Maria Eugenia Rodriguez of El Salvador; two nephews, Mario Jose and Erick Rodriguez and one niece, Roxana Chavez of El Salvador; also extended family and many, many genuine friendships. Marcela was preceded in death by her parents. Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jorge Canela, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in El Salvador. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
