Lois Lorraine Karr, 94, of Grand Island, formally of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Riverside Lodge retirement community in Grand Island, Nebraska.
She was born on April 17, 1931, in Arapahoe, Nebraska to John and Nellie (Hayworth) Michel. She was born on a farm south of Elwood, Nebraska and in 1936, the family moved to Lexington. She attended school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1950.
Lois worked for many years for her family at Northwestern Bell, Dr. Ted Anderson, DDS, Sperry New Holland and Farmers State Bank.
On July 30, 1950, Lois was united marriage to Gerald Tomasek in Lexington. Two children were blessed to this union; Scott and Kelly. She would later wed William Karr in Cozad, Nebraska. Lois welcomed two adult stepchildren, Mike and Nancy, to this union.
Lois was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington and served as a faithful long-time member. She dedicated many years of service at the church, working in different areas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Scott (Terry) Tomasek of Basehor, Kansas and Kelly (Steve) Schneider of Marana, Arizona: grandchildren, Tucker (Jayme)Tomasek of Snohomish, Washington, Trista (AMANDA) Tomasek of Basehor, Kansas and great grandson, Lincoln Tomasek of Basehor, Kansas: stepchildren Mike (LeAnn) Karr of Henderson, Nevada and Nancy (John) Abel of Montrose, Colorado as well as numerous step-grandchildren, and step great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Lois was proceeded in death by her husband, William Karr, and siblings, Phyllis (Roger) Mueller, Eugene (Peggy) Michel, Geraldine Jorn, and Carol (Karl) Lofshult.
To honor Lois’s wishes cremation has taken place, and family graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska.
