Leonard A. Brayton, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Elwood Care Center with his family by his side.

Leonard was born on January 31, 1946, in Cairo, Nebraska to Arnold and Beulah (Reeder) Brayton. He attended school in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School in the class of 1964. He then went on to further his education at Grand Island School of Business where he earned his degree in business.

On November 8, 1967, Leonard enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on June 12, 1969.

Leonard met the love of his life, Corinne Eby, and they were united in marriage on August 6, 1971, in Grand Island. Four children were blessed to this union: Michael, Sarah, Laura and Tim. Leonard and Corinne resided in Shelton for a short time while Leonard worked for an accounting service in Gibbon. The family then moved to Lexington where Leonard took an office position with Sperry New Holland. Leonard worked at the plant until it closed in 1985. He then worked for many years at Mead Lumber in Lexington.

Leonard had many hobbies, which included reading, taking trips and nature. He was known for his positive outlook and his sense of humor. Leonard loved his family immensely; some of his fondest memories were spent watching his children's sporting events and he treasured time with his grandchildren. He loved children in general and was always volunteering. Leonard was a C.A.S.A. volunteer for twenty years, he had many great memories working with Royal Family Kids Camps and helped with placement testing for ESL students. But his primary motivation in life that overflowed to all things was his relationship with Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Corinne of Lexington; his children, Michael (Tari) Brayton of Holdrege, Sarah (Scott) Wiles of Grand Island, Laura (Brandon) Mastin of Johnston, Iowa and Tim (Brenda) Brayton of Lexington; ten grandchildren, Breanna Obermier, Chandler (Jennifer) Brayton, Alexa (Tyler) Barrientos, Andrea (Garrett) Foust, Chloe Obermier, Evan Wiles, Adelyn Wiles, Kayley Mastin, Alyssa Mastin, and Caden Mastin; one great-granddaughter, Everly Brayton; two sisters, Karen Lacey of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Sharon Olivo of Greeley, Colorado; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Brayton and two brothers-in-law, Larry Lacey and Rudy Olivo.
