LaVonne Harriet (Knaggs) Kopf departed this life in Cozad, Nebraska on Friday, the 10th of April 2026, at the age of 94 1/2.

She was the widow of the late Dalen Hilbert Kopf and mother to their five sons, two of whom survive her: Jack Kopf of Lincoln, and Fred Kopf of Tabor, SD.

LaVonne lived most of her life in Buffalo, Nebraska. She was born at her grandparents' Knispel home in Buffalo on 13 September 1931, second of eight children, and except for brief sojourns in Funk and Kearney, Nebraska as a young girl, she lived her entire life in Buffalo and Lexington. LaVonne and Dalen were married in Lexington on 03 October 1948, and they lived and worked their ranch at Buffalo their entire lives. She was an active participant in managing things at the ranch and an active member of the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, serving many years in Ladies' Aid (LWML), and the Altar Guild. Many of us remember the joys of camping with them, reunions and family gatherings at the ranch. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and her cooking and organizing skills. Her siblings called her "the Boss." She will be sorely missed. Yoohoo!

She was preceded in death by her sons, Philip, Darrell, and Robert; her parents, James and Leona (Knispel) Knaggs; his parents, Walter and Mary (Neben) Kopf; three sisters, Bonnie Bauer, Loretta Clark, and Margaret Bryant; five brothers-in-law, Lee Innmon, John Clark, Al Bryant, Don Bauer, and Mark Hoselton.

Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Jana (Brian Hunt) Kopf and Linda Kopf, both of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Ben, Gina, Natalie, Trevor, Zak, Shari, Blake, Jessica, and Seth; twenty three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Opal Innmon of Houston, Texas, and Donna Hoselton of Hastings, Nebraska; two brothers, Bill (Janet) Knaggs of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rodger (Betty) Knaggs of Ogallala, Nebraska, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo with Reverend Victor Rasmussen officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo.

Burial will be held at the First Lutheran Cemetery at Buffalo following the service.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo or to the Central Plains Home Health and Hospice.
