LaVonne Kay Hinkle, 81, formerly of Lexington, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Brookestone View in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
She was born on June 16, 1943, to Lloyd and Marcella (Steggall) Pflaster in Broken Bow, Nebraska. LaVonne and her family lived in Broken Bow until her eighth-grade year when the family moved to the Cozad/Gothenburg area, where she graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1962. LaVonne was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dale Hinkle on August 9, 1962, in Lexngton, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to this marriage: Rodney, Deborah, Jeffrey and Robert (Bob). The family settled in Lexington in 1967. While living in Nebraska, LaVonne worked at Kirks Nebraskaland Restaurant for 18 years. In 1998, the couple made their home in Oconto, where LaVonne worked as a waitress at Big Jim's.
LaVonne loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed getting together with her siblings and extended family. In her later years, she cherished visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. LaVonne had a love for plants, and really enjoyed getting her hair done on Fridays! After her retirement, LaVonne and Dale spent time traveling, and visiting family and friends, something they both loved to do together. LaVonne's family remembers her being a faithful devoted member to the Lord. In her free time, LaVonne enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and working on crossword puzzles. She loved bowling with her friends as well as staying home, working on her knitting and crocheting. LaVonne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary as well as a member of Lioness.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Rodney Hinkle of Cozad, Jeffrey Hinkle of Lexington, and Robert (Jana) Hinkle of La Vista; daughter, Deborah (Robert) Ditson of Overton; grandchildren, Brandon Hinkle of Lexington, Tyler Hinkle of Cozad, Lane Ditson of Overton, Avery Hinkle and fiancé Dylan Christiansen of Omaha, Kylie Hinkle (Dan DeGeest) of Des Moines Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Karson Hinkle of Cozad and Noéh Hinkle of Lexington; brothers, Ron (Iona) Pflaster of Oconto, Allen (Sandy) Pflaster, of Littleton, Colorado and Keith (Peggy) Pflaster of Gothenburg; sisters, Judy (Gary) Vollmer of Cozad and Jean Barraza of Denver; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor Paul Thomas, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Interment will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Cozad.
