Laura Suzanne (Carlson) Logan, 62, of Hastings, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society- Perkin's Pavillion in Hastings.

She was born on December 4, 1963, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to James and Linda (Clark) Carlson. The family lived in the Houston area during their childhood. Laura’s academic journey was one of perseverance and dedication. She began by earning her GED, then earned her bachelor’s degree at The University of Nebraska-Kearney. She went on to attend Kansas State, where she earned both her master’s and PhD, conducting her doctoral research in Chicago. This commitment to learning laid a strong foundation for her impactful career.

For over a decade, Laura served as an esteemed Sociology professor at Hastings College, where she was deeply involved in multiple college organizations. She was known not only for her rigorous academic instruction but also for her compassionate mentorship. As a faculty advisor, she dedicated considerable time to supporting students, notably assisting with women’s resources, helping to foster an environment of empowerment and advocacy on campus.

Beyond her professional achievements, Laura was a devoted lover of books and learning. An avid reader and writer, she frequently engaged with new ideas through books and writing. She enjoyed documentaries, movies, and British crime shows. The beach held a special place in her heart, providing her with solace and joy.
