Larry Dean Ellison was born April 2, 1949, west of Callaway, Nebraska, to Earl and Edna Ellison. He passed away on September 22, 2026. Larry attended Callaway schools and graduated with the class of 1967. After two years at Kearney State College, he farmed alongside his dad and later worked at Monroe's in Cozad.

Larry married Judy Ball on November 17, 1973. Together they raised three children: John, Heather, and Lance.

Larry spent 37 years working at the Co-op, hauling fuel, fixing tires, and taking care of his customers. If someone needed help, Larry showed up. He would go back to work at night or on a weekend to get fuel to the wells, and he was just as willing to help a stranded motorist passing through.

Larry loved people. He made lifelong friends and could start a conversation with anyone. If you met him as a stranger, there was a good chance you'd leave knowing his name, a story or two, and more local history than you'd planned on learning. He was fun to be around and always had time to talk-sometimes quite a lot of time.

He loved animals, especially his dogs, as well as cars and motorcycles. When his children were young, Saturdays often meant finding him outside washing and waxing the cars. He was especially proud of his 1973 Mach 1, his 1972 Yamaha DS7 motorcycle, and his 1957 Plymouth.

Larry also loved history, particularly the local history of the Seven Valleys area. As for getting older, he preferred to leave that to other people.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edna Ellison; his granddaughter, Sarah; his grandparents; his Uncle Butch; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, John (Nicole) Ellison of Minot, Maine, Heather (Jason) Strobl of Clay Center, Nebraska, and Lance (Shannon) Ellison of Litchfield, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Taylor, Stephanie, Brittany, Skylar, Ryleigh, Makayla, Brendon, Kylee, Sharon, Zane, Chloe, Jordyn, Aliza, Piper, and Weston; and his great-grandson, Daniel.

Larry's family and friends will remember the help he gave so freely, the dogs he loved, the stories he shared, and how much fun it was to sit and talk with him—even if you had only stopped by for a minute.
