Lana J. Hubbard was born on January 24, 1951, and went to heaven on April 6, 2026, in Elm Creek, Nebraska, surrounding by her loving family.
She was adopted by Merle and Vera (Young) McKee at birth, and she was their only child. Lana was raised in Lexington and attended school at Bryan Grade School, Pershing Grade School, and District 7. Graduating in 1969, Lana was voted Best Dressed even in her flannel shirt, blue jeans, and loafers. Lana later furthered her education in Colorado. She served on the school reunion committee for many years in differing offices.
Lana loved all animals, and she had a dapple-grey horse that would follow her everywhere. No one sat in a saddle with such grace and poise as Lana. Most of her 4-H competitors were envious as she and her horse,Rocky brought home more purple ribbons than could be counted.
She was united in marriage to Jeff Hubbard on September 14, 1991, in Lexington and to this union their son, Dane C. Hubbard was born. Lana also gained stepchildren, Tyson, Jesse, and Tova when uniting with Jeff.
Lana and Jeff began their married life in Lexington, then moved to McCook, back to Lexington, and then lived in Gordon for six years, before moving to Elm Creek. While in Gordon, Lana’s passion was helping with the Miss Rodeo Sheridan County Queen Contest, along with volunteering at several business that her friends owned.
Lana worked several retail jobs and volunteered extensively, serving others through her kind and loving spirit. She loved working at Rita’s Town and Country clothing store in Lexington and later her interior design skills were used at Crossroads in Kearney. Lana continued volunteer work while living in Elm Creek and she loved to meet new people wherever she went. She had a loving and giving heart, she was a friend to many and gave of her talents freely.
Lana’s faith was important to her, which was shown in her Bible studies. She was baptized and later confirmed in the First Christian Church in Lexington.
Lana is survived by her husband, Jeff, of Elm Creek, Nebraska, son Dane, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, stepson Jesse (Caree) and their daughter Madalynn of San Diego, California, stepdaughter Tova (Rob) and their children Quinton, Evan, and Cecelia, of Kearney, Nebraska, Tyson’s daughters Shayleen (Da’Quan) Thompson of Houston, Texas, Isabella Hubbard (Stephon) and their children Sabrina and Violet of Grand Island, Nebraska. She is also survived by a host of brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Vera, and stepson Tyson.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the Dawson County Cancer Care Fund, the Elm Creek Volunteer Fire Department, or the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.
