Josselyn Ruth Hilty

Josselyn "Jo" R. Hilty, 68, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Lexington Regional Health Center.

She was born on July 5, 1956, in Sidney, Nebraska to Lawrence Raymond and Ruthie Dale (Prestwood) Hilty. She attended school in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School with the Class of 1974. She then went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in Special Education from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. After graduation, Jo taught for two years in Hastings and two years in Burwell, Nebraska, before returning home to take care of her mother. During this time, she continued to substitute teach and also began working as a retail clerk for Montgomery Ward. She eventually went on to work as a retail clerk at Walmart before her retirement.

Jo was a meticulous craftsperson, creating beautiful wreaths and trolls. She loved going to Hobby Lobby to find more crafting projects to fill her time and keep her mind sharp. She was known to have a sparkling personality and loved being silly with her friends and family who will miss her greatly.

Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Sharon (Tracy) Wood of Lexington, and Larry (Jenice) Hilty of Kearney; nephews, Wade Whitworth of Lincoln and Reed (Rita) Whitworth of Lexington; nieces, Sabrina (Kevin) Nielsen, Sally (Tommy) Bernard, and Susie (Jim) Harley; and her forever friends, Ames and Perry; as well as extended family and friends.

A Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
