John Richard LeRoy King, 74, passed peacefully at his home in Sumner, Nebraska on November 19th, 2025.

John was a Jack of all trades, if it was broken, he could fix it. He wore many hats and went by many name’s – Dad, Papa, Uncle fix it, Ditto, John boy (boy boy) and Cowboy King. He worked on the railroad and Coors in his younger years and at IBP, painted vehicles as well as helping his brother-in-law and sister build a kitchen for their business later in life. He enjoyed going fishing and collecting Dragons. There was nothing more important to him than his Family and he cherished every moment he had with them.

He is preceded in death by His Father Eddie King, Mother Dorthea and Stepfather Maurice Brouse, Brother’s Freddy, Chucky and Ronnie, Sister Barbara and Brother-in-Law Larry Manhart.

He is survived by his life partner, Karen King; daughters, Stacie and husband Kevin Lewis, Jada and husband Chris Arzate, son, Richard and wife Laura Hirtz; sisters, Jeanette Manhart, Janice and husband Thomas Allen; he had many beloved nieces, nephew’s, grandchildren and great Grandchildren.

The Celebration of Life will be held in Sumner, Nebraska early spring of 2026.
