Jennie Mae Thompson, 65 of rural Overton passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at her home north of Overton.

Jennie was born October 25, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska to Carl and Betty (Korbes) Huffaker.

She attended school in Omaha and graduated from Omaha North High school. She was united in marriage to Vernon E. Thompson on January 5, 1974, in Omaha. To this union two children were born, Vernon, Jr. and Angela.

The couple moved to Elm Creek for a brief time and then to Overton in 1982. She was a babysitter for the Shafer family and later was a custodian for the Overton Public Schools for six years.

She enjoyed camping, quilting, spending time with friends, being outdoors, black powder shoots but most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon of Overton, son; Vernon, Jr. and wife Carrie of Overton, daughter; Angela and husband Ricki Runge of Elm Creek, four grandchildren; Hailey and husband Jonathan Lyman of Seymour, Missouri, Cody Runge, Riley Runge and Casey Runge all of Elm Creek, brothers; George Huffaker, Mike Huffaker and Peter Huffaker, sisters; Carol Moore and Clara Wesley as well aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joseph, brothers-in-law, David Moore and Bill Thompson, mother and father-in-law, Verne and Beulah Thompson.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-love Funeral Home in Lexington. Face coverings will be required.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Reverend Venedith Vargas, officiating. Face coverings will be required. The Funeral service will be live streamed via the Reynolds-Love Facebook page.

Interment will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton.

Memorials are suggested to the Thompson family for later designation.
