Jana Dee Ivey, 63, of Johnson Lake, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 4, 1962, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Roy and Dorothy (Slaughter) Bentley. She attended grade school in Willow Island, later attending high school in Gothenburg. She graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1980. She was a part of the National Honor Society during her high school years. She went on to Kearney State College, where she attended until her junior year. In 1990, Jan was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jon Ivey, at the Methodist Church in Lexington.
She worked for Sixth Street Food during her high school years. After graduation, she began working in Grand Island for Honor Kennels in 1987, then began a career as a professional dog groomer for the Plum Creek Vet Clinic until she retired in 2014 due to health reasons. Jan had attended the United Methodist Church in Gothenburg regularly in her younger years and was baptized through the church, giving her soul to Jesus Christ. That faith would help her endure and persevere through some of the toughest moments in life.
Jan loved being outside. She often enjoyed bike rides, cart rides during golf games, and boat rides to watch God’s majestic sunsets. She loved being out on the water and participated in many water sports. Whenever they could, the family would go on trips and enjoy the marvelous sights. Jan was blessed with many wonderful friends and family, and loved their family get-togethers, where they could all enjoy some good food, great music, and some dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law John and LoDema Ivey, sister-in-law and husband Marvel and Scott Borden, LaNoma Ivey in infancy, and Doris Gregg who lived in Clarksville, Tennessee.
She is survived by her husband Jon Ivey of Johnson Lake, Brother-in-law Ron Ivey (Carol) of Oxford, Ne. Willa Dannull (Cliff) Holdrege, Ne, cousin Richard Gregg (Maria) of Kearney, Ne, cousin Jamie Armstrong (Steve) of Lincoln, Ne and Aunt Sara Slaughter of Arab Alabama, as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of the Lake in Johnson Lake.
Burial will be held after the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington,
A Public Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Restless Waters in Johnson Lake from 4-7 p.m.
