Jack Bundtzen Robison

Jack Bundtzen Robison, 89, of Cozad and Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Cozad Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 17, 1937, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Earl and Ferne Robison, the oldest of their three sons. The family lived on a farm northeast of Cozad where they grew corn and alfalfa. Earl and Ferne were always involved with his interests, including FFA projects, baseball, football, and later, boxing. The family were members of St. John's Lutheran Church, of which Jack was a life-long member. He served on the church board as treasurer.

Jack always believed he would continue the family tradition of farming and raising cattle, which he did continue part time. However, his mother convinced him to try teaching rural school which he began at 19 years old and continued over 50 years in the Cozad area. Jack loved teaching, and his students were very special to him. Jack was a 1954 Cozad High School graduate, and he received his teaching degree from Kearney State College. Jack spent many summers attending summer school and working at the Willow Island hay mill.

He married Carol Stevenson on December 23, 1962. To this marriage, three sons were born: Scott, Joel and Patrick. Carol and the boys were his greatest joy in life. Jack and Carol enjoyed all of their sporting activities and events as well as those of their grandsons, Nick and Zach. Jack and Carol lived and raised their family in Cozad most of their lives, having moved to Shackley Retirement Village in Lexington in 2022. Most recently Jack resided at Emerald Care Nursing home in Cozad.

Jack and Carol enjoyed traveling, whether with family, friends, the Car Club or by themselves. These were very special memories. He was also an avid hunter of pheasant and deer and also loved fishing with his boys. Jack was a member of the Dawson County rural Teachers Organization, a charter member of the Cozad Elks Lodge, Golden-Rod Antique Car Club, where he served as president and vice-president. He was a Little League Baseball coach for many years as well.

All in all, Jack loved God, the St. John's Church, his family, hunting, teaching, old cars and traveling with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ferne; his father and mother-in-law, Thurman and Louise Stevenson; brother, Kent Robison; brother-in-law, Chuck Stevenson, and brother-in-law, Jerry Koenig.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol; brother Rex (Norma) Robison of Omaha; sister-in-law, Elaine Koenig of Norfolk; brother-in-law, Dale (Betty) Stevenson of Stockton, Missouri; sons, Scott (Mayte), Joel (Shelly), and Patrick (Sara); grandsons, Nickolas (Pui) and Zachary; step granddaughters, Stephanie, Naomi, and Anely, as well as nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Cozad with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating.

A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the Cozad Community Scholastic Association to go towards a scholarship in Jack's honor or to the family for later designation.
