Ivan Jerrold Henderson

Lexington- Ivan J. Henderson, 83 of Lexington passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Avamere Assisted Living in Lexington. Ivan was born March 15, 1935 in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Raymond and Alta (Sisson) Henderson. Ivan moved with his family to Gothenburg when he was in grade school . Ivan graduated from Gothenburg High school in 1953 and graduated From Kearney State College in 1961. On October 12, 1955 Ivan enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until being honorably discharged on August 14, 1957. After his discharge he served in the National Guard. On June 28, 1959 Ivan was united in marriage to Marion Jeanne (Jean) Kotschwar in Farnam, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this marriage, Terri, Todd & Troy. Ivan taught school for two years before being employed by Central Nebraska Power & Irrigation District. Ivan worked at Canaday Steam Plant retiring after thirty-three years. After retirement he worked for Mead Lumber Company for ten years. Ivan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Eagles Club, VFW and the Elks Club. Ivan enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, dancing and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Survivors include his wife Jean of Lexington; one daughter, Terri and husband Benjamin Brinck of Burlington, Iowa; two sons, Todd and significant other Summer Betting of Mesa, Arizona and Troy and significant other Cindi Linke of Lincoln, Nebraska; one grandson, Jace Henderson of West Des Moines, Iowa. Brother-in-law, Glen (Vicki) Kotschwar Sisters-in-law: Bettye Cross, Mable Conklin, Alice Fickenscher and Muriel Kotschwar; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Howard, Raymond, Jr. (Sam), sisters: Tressa Peters, Bernice Wulf and Dorris Anderson; brothers-in-law, Clyde, Leon, Stanley, Anton and Robert Kotschwar, Don Conklin, Orville Thrasher, Myron Fickenscher, Roland Cross, Wesley Anderson and Herman Wulf; sisters-in-law, Gladys Thrasher, Maxine Kotschwar,  Viola Iburg, Ruby Henderson & Evelyn Henderson. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral services will be Friday December 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Rev. Eddie Mariel, officiating. Interment with military honors will be at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska at 2:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.
