Ilene Faye Holbrook, 77, of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Brookstone Gardens in Kearney.

She was born in McCook, Nebraska to Nyle and Alberta (Chapman) Anderson. She attended school in Edison from 1954 to around 1962, when the family moved to Lexington where she received her GED in 1975.While in school, she was involved in Band and lettered in Volleyball during high school. In Ilene's younger years, she worked at various care homes as a cook as well working many years at Tenneco-Monroe's until she was severely injured, causing her to become disabled.

Ilene had a love for anything Mickey Mouse and anything froggy, as well as playing scrabble. She was an avid bowler and spent a lot of time bowling in tournaments. Ilene grew up with horses and absolutely loved them! She had a beautiful black stallion that only she could ride. She loved all animals, but horses and dogs were her all-time favorites with the exception to Bumblebee, her grand kitty. She loved to have the phone on speaker phone when she called her daughter so Bumblebee could be included in the conversation. He would howl, meow, and they would have amazing chats.

Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Laurie (Greenlee) Anderson of Omaha; granddaughters, Jody Belmudez of Kearney, Holly (Stephen) Richardson of Omaha; biological granddaughter, Jessica Bristol of Australia; siblings, Kenneth Anderson of Cozad, Gale Anderson of Lexington, and Gailene (Neil) Benson of Kearney; her dog, Buster; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Kay and her dog, Sheena.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Dave Leraaen, officiating.

A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Burial will be held at Edison Cemetery in Edison, Nebraska, following the service.
