Gonzalo Vega Ortiz

Gonzalo Vega Ortiz, 64, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Morrill County Community Hospital in Bridgeport, Nebraska. He was born in La Laja, Jalisco, Mexico on January 10, 1955 to Teodoro and Josefina (Ortiz) Vega. He grew up in Mexico before moving to California. He lived in California until the early 90’s when he moved to Lexington, Nebraska to work for I.B.P. He was united in marriage to Dalila Araceli Figueroa on December 21, 1996 in Lexington. Three children were blessed to this union: Alexis, Angel and Brisa. They lived in Lexington and Gonzalo spent the last two years working for Werner Construction hauling gravel. Gonzalo loved watching soccer, working on cars and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Dalila Araceli Figueroa-Vega of Lexington; children, Alejandro Vazquez of Mexico, Amaury Vazquez of California, Walter Vega of California, Rosario Noemy (Librado) Martinez of Lexington, Alexis Gonzalo Vega of Lexington, Angel Gabriel Vega of Lexington and Brisa Araceli Vega of Lexington; brother, Jose Vega of Lexington and a sister, Luz Vega of California; also survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Gonzalo was preceded in death by his daughter, Karina Vazquez. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Evangelical Free Church in Lexington with Pastor Juan Santos, officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday October 8, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Evangelical Free Church in Lexington. Following the Traditional Funeral Service, Cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
