Glenn Eugene Eggleston

September 1, 1932 — October 30, 2017

Glenn Eugene Eggleston, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, October 30, 2017, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.   Glenn was born September 1, 1932, on the home place in Custer County, Nebraska, to Elijah and Zelda (Hemphill) Eggleston. He graduated from Oconto High School with the class of 1951. After school he farmed with his dad until serving in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He served from April 30, 1953, until his honorable discharge on March 16, 1955.   Upon his return he drove a propane truck for a propane company. He also worked at New Holland in Lexington, and B-D in Broken Bow. On March 24, 1957, he was united in marriage to Myrna Whittaker at the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington. Five children were blessed to this marriage; Linda, Doug, Terry, Dave, and Ann. The family moved around quite a bit because of Glenn’s job, but settled in Lexington in 1998.   Glenn was a member of the Berean Bible Church, the Oconto American Legion, Post #250, Oconto, Nebraska, and the Golden Rod Car Club. He enjoyed gardening, especially his vegetable garden, music, square dancing, was a square dance caller, playing cards, fishing, racing stock cars, and going to rodeos. His greatest love though was being with family, especially the grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.   You might say that Glenn was a “Jack of all Trades”. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, or try to fix. He loved a good story, and was a huge teaser. He will be very missed.   Survivors include his wife Myrna of Lexington; sons, Doug (Ann) Eggleston of Sumner, Nebraska, Dave (Jayne) Eggleston of Cozad, Nebraska; two daughters, Linda Leibert of Cozad, Nebraska, and Ann Sleicher of Sumner, Nebraska; two brothers, Charles (Vicki) Eggleston of Gothenburg, Nebraska, and Lloyd (Sandy) Eggleston of Broken Bow, Nebraska; four sisters, LaVonne (Gene) Oxford of Broken Bow, Nebraska, Zelda (Loraine) (Delbert) Rogers of Franklin, Nebraska, Judy (Maynard) Struempler of Oconto, Nebraska, and Jane (Nick) Liakos of Lawrence, Kansas; four sisters-in-law, Bonnie Eggleston, Vi Eggleston both of Oconto, Nebraska, Paula Blodgett of Lexington, Nebraska, and Marilyn Whittaker of Kearney, Nebraska; two brothers-in-law, Jerry (Donna) Whittaker of Lexington, Nebraska, and Roger Casey of Friendwood , Texas; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.   Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; son, Terry; brothers; Kenneth, Keith, Donald, and Ivan; sister, Ella Mae Casey; son-in-law, Steve Leibert; sister-in-law, Beulah Eggleston, and two brothers-in-law, Ken Whittaker and Marvin Blodgett.   Funeral Services will be Monday, November 6, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Berean Bible Church in Lexington with Reverend Kenny Schwarz officiating.   Burial with Military Honors will be in the Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.   Visitation will be held Sunday, November 5, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.   Memorials are suggested to the Berean Bible Church or to the family for later designation.   Reynolds-Love Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
