Gerald LaVern Lashley

Gerald (Jerry) LaVern Lashley of Eddyville Nebraska passed away on November 24, 2018 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney at the age of 72 from a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was born on February 3, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska and brought into the family of Ralph (Bud) and Georgia (Thelma) Lashley. A 1964 graduate of Eddyville High School; Jerry went on to receive his degree from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, UNL in Curtis where he met and married Sheryl Brush on March 18,1967. He followed his passion for farming and settled on the family farm just outside of Eddyville where they had four children. On June 19th of 1993, he married Pamela (Eggen) Lashley and together they remained in the field of agriculture throughout his lifetime. In 1975 Jerry was honored by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture as Farmer of the Year. In addition to agriculture, Jerry enjoyed hunting, shooting skeet/trap, flying, learning about and preserving history. He obtained his commercial pilot’s license in the early 1980’s and was a member of Flying Farmers and Ranchers of America. An example of his commitment to history was evident in the restoration of the family barn, built in 1906 and more recently, the restoration of his John Deere 3020. He also supported his community through his leadership and service for the Dawson County Historical Museum. Jerry was preceded in death by his infant son and parents, Ralph and Thelma Lashley. He is survived by his wife of twenty five years, Pamela (Eggen) Lashley and children, Bobbi (Lashley) Rose of Curtis, Shannon (Lashley) Vogler and son-in-law Brian Vogler of Firth and James Lashley of Eddyville. Stepchildren, Heidi (Walter) Menendez and son-in-law Mariano Menendez of Columbus, Ryan Walter and daughter-in-law Jamie (Youel ) Walter of Monument, CO. Grand children Joshua Rader, Tayler Trofholz, Kylie Rose, Bailey Vogler, Jadin Vogler, Ian Menendez, Josiah Mendendez, Isabela Mendendez, Hunter Walter and Paxton Walter. Great granddaughter MiCayla Rader and great grandson Kolt Tidyman. Visitation will be held at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home, Lexington Nebraska on November 27, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be at the Eddyville Community Building on November 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.   Interment will be in the Miller (Armada) Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Eddyville Community Building.
