Gary Earl Enochs, 79, of Overton, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the Elwood Care Center.

He was born June 26, 1946, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Earl and Velma (Dodson) Enochs. He grew up on a farm north of Overton, where he learned the value of hard work at a young age. Gary graduated from Overton Public School in 1965 and soon after took over the family farm, beginning the lifelong work that shaped so much of who he was.

He was united in marriage to Kathryn (Proett) on October 10, 1965. To this union were born two children, Gena (Enochs) Carpenter and Wayne Enochs, who remained the pride and joy of his life.

Gary was a hardworking farmer whose days were defined by dedication and the simple joys he cherished. He especially loved the time he spent in his combine—his favorite place to be. He was a proud supporter of his children and grandchildren, rarely missing a sporting event and cheering them on with steady enthusiasm. He enjoyed Royals baseball, listening to KRVN on the radio, and relaxing with old western shows. He was known for his quirky smile and infectious laugh when something struck him funny, a sound and expression that brought warmth to everyone around him.

After his stroke in 2001, life became more challenging, but Gary faced those struggles with quiet strength. He was lifted every day by the unwavering support of his family, friends, and caregivers, who encouraged him, pushed him, and celebrated each step forward.

Gary is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Gena (Barry) Carpenter and Wayne (Lisa) Enochs; his brother, Randy (Bonita) Enochs; and his sister, Linda (Bob) Larson. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Alison (Cole) Robinson, Alicia (Jeremy) Sheldon, Arran (Jake) Putnam, Ethan (Lauren) Enochs, Kinzy (Devin) Dibbern, and Sidney (Dylan) Kahrs.

His great‑grandchildren include: Corbyn, Carter, Cohen, and Aspyn Robinson; Jaxon, Oaklee, and Dekker Sheldon; Hudsen, Brixten, and Kutler Putnam; Jace and Everly Enochs; Wesley, Whitten, and baby Dibbern; and baby Kahrs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Velma Enochs; his in‑laws, Ernie and Jean Proett; and his aunt, Ruby Ransdell.

Gary will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
