Eddie S. Garcia, 92, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Avamere in Lexington. He was born May 3, 1927 in Trinidad, Colorado to Casimiro and Perfectita (Gallegos) Garcia. At a young age his family moved to Lexington. He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 28, 1945. He was in the Pacific Theater during World War II working as a Crane Operator. He was honorable discharged on August 9, 1946. Eddie was united in marriage to Margaret Garringer on June 21, 1947 in Lexington. Three sons were blessed to this union: Brent, Dave and Ed. Eddie and Margaret owned and operated the Weaver’s Dry Cleaning and then Fashion Dry Cleaning for over twenty years. He then went on to work for Graham Edwards before taking a job with the Lexington Public Schools in maintenance and also drove the food truck for many years. When the children were young they spent many weekends boating and fishing. He also played softball for many years and enjoyed shooting trap. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching games on T.V. Eddie was a member of the Berean Bible Church, and a past member of the First Christian Church. He was also a past member of the Jaycee’s in Lexington. Survivors include his sons, Brent Garcia of Elwood, Nebraska, Dave (Susan) Garcia of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ed (Denice) Garcia of Lexington, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Scott Garcia of Elwood, Nebraska, Carey (Garret) Becker of Crookston, Minnesota, Megan (Jeff) Koch of Howe, Nebraska, David Garcia of Lincoln, Nebraska, Chad (Melissa) Garcia of Broken Bow, Nebraska and Stacey (Brandon) Gibreal of Kearney, Nebraska; granddaughter-in-law, Dawn Garcia of Lincoln, Nebraska; ten great-grandchildren, Ricky, Jesse, Prudence, Keaton, Conner, Kyran, Kennedy, Grace, Gavin and Brody; three great-great-grandchildren, Corben, Opie and Nathaniel; one sister, Emma Carranza of Kearney, Nebraska and one brother, Glenn (Sandra) Garcia of Spokane, Washington; as well as nieces nephews, extended family and friends. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret in 2017; four brothers; four sisters; one great-grandson and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Berean Bible Church in Lexington with Pastor Tom Parker, officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment with Military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
