Donald O. Hite, 81, of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney.
He was born on August 5, 1944, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Jasper and Alice Maxine (Stahl) Hite. He attended public school in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School. Don was incredibly hard working and dedicated many years to Sperry New Holland before working for Tenneco-Monroe Automotive until they closed down.
On May 27, 1972, Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon Blodgett in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple were blessed with three children: Gary, Debra, and Vicki. Don loved Nebraska and lived there most of his life with his family, making Cozad his final home with Sharon for the last thirty years.
Don adored spending time outdoors where he would hunt and fish for several hours. On the rare occasions where he wasn't hunting, he was playing cards and drinking a cold beer. He was known as a purposeful man of necessity and didn't need much to make him happy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Debra (Erin Handgen) Williams of Fort Collins, Colorado, Vicki Gates of Denver, and Gary Williams of Kearney; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.
