Dawn Dorine (Drake) Landis, 87, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Lexington Regional Health Center.
She was born on May 17, 1938, in Crow Agency, Montana, to Ira and Almira (Warren) Drake. She was the first born of four children. She attended Hardin Montana School until 8th grade when she decided to quit. She would later go on to receive her G.E.D. in Arroyo Grande, California in 1976.
Dawn joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of 15 with her family. On September 24, 1966, she married Donald Landis in Pasco, Washington. They were together for 56 years before his passing in 2022. The couple were sealed in the Los Angeles, California Temple on January 17, 1996. She had many callings in her church, and she loved attending her Sunday meetings.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sunni (Bill) Burton of Lexington, and Lea (Dennis) Kling of Keldron, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Carissa (Joe) Ureste, Christopher (Amanda) Burton, Trevor Burton, Samantha Kling, and Dylan (Larissa) Kling; great-grandchildren, Kennadi Ureste, Jayden Ureste, McKinley Ureste, Christian Burton, Presley Burton, Cooper Burton, Hazel Kling, June Kling, Walter Kling, Porter McCoy & Carter McCoy.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Almira Drake; her husband, Donald Landis; sisters, Dixie Mack, Diann Colson; and brother, Dale Drake. She lived a full life and had many friends along the way - she will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lexington with President Steve Horton officiating.
Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington following the service.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lexington, with family receiving guests from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
