David Roy Tomasek, 63, of Lexington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at his home in Lexington.
He was born on January 20, 1963, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Donald and Bonnie (Fellers) Tomasek. He was the youngest of 3 children. He attended school in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1981. During his high school years, David was very active in sports and excelled in basketball, and baseball. He went on to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for three years.
David moved to Arizona, where he worked in sales at Neutron Industries. After 25 years, he moved back to the Lexington area to be closer to his parents, working several jobs over the years, including the Ethanol plant, bartending at Lakeside, and working at U Save Pharmacy. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends and cooking. David was an animal lover at heart and adored his beloved bulldogs, Biscuit and Smokey.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Bev and Johnny Fellers, who took great care of David for many years and helped him often during difficult times.
Survivors include his siblings, Steve (Pam) Tomasek of Lexington, and Susan Dannehl of Lexington; nieces and nephews, Ty (Becky) Tomasek of Phoenix, Arizona, Tara (Dustin Young) Tomasek of Lexington, Jud (Melinda Rutledge) Dannehl of Omaha, Jessica (Steve) Bazis of Omaha, and Kevin (Abby) Dannehl of Omaha; seven great-nephews, Anthony (McKenna Velty) Rodriguez of Des Moines, Iowa, Benjamin Rodriguez of Kearney, Maxwell and Miles Tomasek of Phoenix, Arizona, Knox, Dax and Hendrix Dannehl of Omaha; as well as aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bonnie Tomasek; his grandparents, Roy and Velma Tomasek, and Bill and Minnie Fellers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating.
Inurnment will be held after the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
Memorials are kindly suggested to B & B Veterinary Services or to the family for later designation.
