David Lewis Goodrich, 72, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Lexington Reginal Health Center.

He was born on October 29, 1953, in Geneva, Nebraska, to Homer Eugene and Ruth (Harrison) Goodrich. He graduated from York High School with the class of 1972. David continued his education and earned his teaching degree with a minor in English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On October 17, 1975, David was united in marriage to Sandy Wiemer in Lincoln, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union: Meghan, Benjamin, and Zachary.

David taught and coached basketball at Wolbach, Nebraska, from 1976 to 1978. The couple then moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, where he worked at the meat processing plant in Madison for twelve years. In 1990, the family moved to Lexington where he worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles for 25 years until his retirement in 2015.

David enjoyed pursuing his favorite activities, whether out on the golf course, on a hunting trip, or trying his luck at the casino. Sports held a special place in David’s heart. He was a proud Husker sports fan, showing unwavering support for his teams. He also enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Twins. Above all, David valued family. Those closest to him knew his steadfast devotion to his wife, his children and especially his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory are his beloved wife, Sandy Goodrich of Lexington; his children, Meghan (Patrick) Marnell of Amarillo, Texas, Benjamin (Anthony Neal) Goodrich of Atlanta, Georgia, and Zachary (Tanasia) Goodrich of Sidney, Nebraska; grandchildren, Cora M, Vivienne M, Everett M, Otto Goodrich, Levi Goodrich, and Sainte Neal-Goodrich; brothers, Stephen (Katherine) Goodrich of Lincoln, John (Kathleen) Goodrich of Milford, and Mark Goodrich of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ruth Goodrich.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez officiating.
