Darla June Banzhaf, 73, of Eustis, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2026, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney surrounded by her loving family.
Darla was the kind of person whose love could be felt in everything she did. For 55 years, she shared her life with her husband, Larry, building a marriage filled with love, loyalty, and a lifetime of memories.
She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to Shawn and his wife, Jodi; Shane; Jeremy and his wife, Sandra; Jason and his wife, Brandy; and daughter, Jessica. She is also survived by her sister, Dea and her husband, Tino, and their children. Darla held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. To them, she was affectionately known as “Aunt Dolly.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Darla’s family was the center of her world. She was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and somehow, no matter how large the family grew, she made each of them feel remembered and loved. She never forgot a birthday, celebrated their milestones, and took great pride in the family she had built.
She was an incredible cook and baker, and her kitchen was one of the many places she showed her love. Her meals brought people together, created traditions, and became memories her family will carry with them for years to come.
Darla was a caretaker at heart—kind, loyal, generous, and always looking after the people she loved. She noticed the little things, remembered what others forgot, and quietly made life better for those around her. To Larry, she was his partner and constant companion for more than half a century. To her children, she was Mom. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a steady source of love.
Darla leaves behind a family that will forever be better because she was at the heart of it. They will miss her cooking and baking, her thoughtfulness, the birthdays she never forgot, and all the little ways she cared for them. Most of all, they will simply miss her. The love Darla gave so freely will live on in her family, the traditions she created, and the generations she helped shape. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
