Daniel "Grady" S. Shelor, 74, of Lexington, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
He was born in Dodge City, Kansas, to George and Eleanor (Wendland) Shelor. The family later moved to Lexington, Nebraska, where he graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1969. Upon graduation, he immediately joined the National Guard where he served for six years. He later went on to work at Orthman's, dedicating 15 years to the plant. He also worked for Overton Sand and Gravel, JT Land and Cattle, and MRK Inc. until his retirement.
Dan was a man of simple pleasures. He often spent his down time shooting pool, golfing or working on his puzzles. Dan enjoyed flying large kites and traveled often, flying them at Kite Flights in the area. He enjoyed a cold beer, a smoke, and a good movie on tv. He enjoyed collecting Fenton Glass and coins.
Survivors include his sister, Arla Naprstek of Minden; nieces, Jeni Miller and Amanda Naprstek, both of Minden, and Courtney (Steve) Bieker of Bertrand; great-nieces and nephews, Koren Naprstek of Minden, Sami Miller of Minden, Karla Miller (Jacob Casterada) of Mesa, Arizona, Jarret, Chonsey, Tipton, Scotty, Stevie, and Annie Bieker, all of Bertrand; as well as extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Milton Naprstek; brother, John Shelor and sister-in-law, Annette Shelor.
Cremation has taken place in honor of Dan's wishes.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Dan Schwarz officiating.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
