Daniel Joseph Screws

December 17, 1975 — January 7, 2024

Lexington

Daniel Joseph Screws, 48, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Bryan Medical East Campus, in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a result of lingering health issues.

Daniel was born December 17, 1975, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he lived until his family moved to Lexington, NE, in 1991. Dan graduated from Lexington High School in 1994.  He then attended Southeast Community College in Milford, NE, where he studied Auto Collision Repair Technology.

He loved “rescuing” old square body Chevy pickups with the aim to restoring them someday. Dan also loved nature.  He truly enjoyed living in the hills between Ord and Burwell where he loved watching the weather and watching storm clouds roll in over the hills.  Sunrises were his favorite part of the day, and he loved camping and fishing for catfish.  Dan was a great cook and loved to barbeque and try new recipes.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Thistle Masonic Lodge #61 in Lexington.  He was also a Shriner.

Dan was preceded in death by his dad, Jim Screws, Sr., and his sister, Julie Anne Screws.

He is survived by his mom, Alice Screws of Lexington; and his brother, James (Robin) Screws of Lexington; and step-nieces Kasie Moore, Amy Moore and step-nephew, Tony (Colbie) Greuschow; and numerous cousins.

The family has chosen cremation.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to the family for further designation.
