Dale Allen Seng

April 28, 1947 — April 30, 2023

Dale A. Seng, 76, of Callaway, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with COPD due to a lifetime of smoking, which he wished he never got started.

He was born on April 28, 1947, in Omak, Washington, to Herman and Doris (Gehrke) Seng. Throughout his life, Dale lived in Washington State, Montana, Wyoming, Calgary, Canada and Idaho before finally settling in Callaway, Nebraska to be closer to family. He worked in various locations such as sawmills, timber, lumber mills, Hyster, Boeing and subsidiaries. His specialty was being a diesel heavy equipment operator and automotive mechanic. On August 21, 1965, Dale married the love of his life, Dora Burrows.

Dale was incredibly independent and a very busy man. He loved to invent and tinker with things that were technical or mechanical while listening to 50s and 60s Rock and Roll along with his favorite radio DJ; Wolf Man Jack. He was always looking to improve any tool or process to make it work more efficiently. He believed that better quality tools created better quality work. Dale was known to be a Gadget Guy. He had a gadget for everything. He also had quite a knack for woodworking. He created extremely detailed birdhouses, spice racks, toy accessories and many other items. He always excelled with his inventions and crafts because he was an ambitious and excessively detail oriented person.

When Dale wasn't creating, or fixing different things, he was indoors watching his favorite tv shows. He loved Gunsmoke, Smokey and the Bandit, Airwolf, How it's Made and animated Pink Panther. He enjoyed having a Pepsi and some double stuffed Oreos. You could also find him having an ice-cold beer and listening to the sound of quiet nature. He was a dedicated hopeful hunter and fisherman. He had a love for old cars, motorcycles and heavy equipment. One of Dale's dreams was one day having a helicopter business and giving tours to the locals.

Those left to honor his memory are his loving wife, Dora Seng of Callaway; children, Stacey (Laura) Seng and Shelley (Marcus) Pandorf, both of Callaway, Nebraska; brother Dane (Dorothy) of Prineville, Oregon, sister Beth (Wayne) Rogers of Tarkio, Missouri; his grandkids who always called him “Papa”; Shawnee (Casey) Durner, Nic (Crystal) Seng, Dakota, Kira, Jessie and Tesa; great-grandkids, Vega, Saige, Piper, Sawyer, and twin boys he just missed meeting, William Vaughn and Bennett Hudson, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family is honoring Dale's wish for cremation.

There are no services planned at this time. (But if you would like to donate to a fund for the trees being planted for Dale this fall it would be most welcomed.)
