Cleota Fay Steinbach

March 5, 1930 — January 28, 2022

Cleota Fay Steinbach, 91, of Overton, Nebraska passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Providence Place of Hastings.

She was born on March 5, 1930 in Grainola, Oklahoma, to Bert and Bessie (Farrington) Kelly.  Cleota grew up in Cedar Vale, Kansas where she attended and graduated with the class of 1948.  Following High School, she received her Cosmetology license.

On November 20, 1949, Cleota was united in marriage to Ray Steinbach. Four children were blessed to this union: Mike, Steve, Ginger and Cindy.  The marriage ended in 1991, but a lot happened in those forty plus years.  The family made their way to Bertrand, Nebraska, in 1959 to establish a veterinary practice.  In 1965 they built the Bertrand Veterinary Clinic.  Cleota worked side by side with Ray, until the clinic sold in 1985.  In 1970 they built a home south of Overton where she lived until moving to Providence Place of Hastings in 2020.

Cleota lived a full life! She enjoyed traveling and she also got her pilot’s license.  The family went on some adventurous trips that included hunting, fishing and camping.  Cleota always looked forward to playing Bridge with her friends in Bertrand and Overton.  She loved going to auctions, visiting friends and spending time with family.

She was a member of the Overton United Methodist Church.  She also enjoyed helping with the senior center meals.

Survivors include her children, Steve Steinbach of Cedar Vale, Kansas and Cindy (Coby) Davenport of Overton; daughter-in-law, Nora Steinbach of Dexter, Kansas; grandchildren, Paige (Jared) Wolfe of Fairfield, Cooper (Baley) Davenport of Overton, Lee Steinbach of Crystal Beach, Texas, Jackie (Robbi) Steinbach of Dexter, Kansas, Chris (Angie) Baker of Carrollton, Kentucky, and Shelby (Adam) Pence of Avon, Indiana; eleven great-grandchildren, Tyrell, Elizabeth, Colton, Cheyenne, Brycen, Cali, Brayden, Harper, Hartley, Trux and Traylin; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Cleota was preceded in death by her children, Mike and Ginger; three sisters, Roberta, Maxine “Robin”, and Betty.
