Cheryl M. Blodgett, 74, of Litchfield, Nebraska formerly of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Kearney Regional Medical Center. She was born April 15, 1944, in Lexington, Nebraska to Tom and Betty (Dodson) Fread. Cheryl was born and raised in Lexington and attended Lexington High School. She was united in marriage to Ron Blodgett on August 7, 1970. The couple made their home in Lexington where they raised their six children, Rick, Cheri Lynn, Shelly, Laurie, Patrick and Crystal. Cheryl was a “jack of all trades” when it came to working. Cheryl worked at Wightman Fallesen Law Office for several years, managed the Blue Lounge, worked at the Eagles Club and the Vet’s Club. She owned and operated a bridal store called the Wedding Castle where she made dresses and decorated cakes. She also owned a cleaning and painting business. When Ron and Cheryl moved to Litchfield in 1992 they purchased the Litchfield Steakhouse and operated that for ten years. She then went on to work at the Ravenna Care Home where she took care of her mother. Cheryl was always active; she made clothes for her children when they were growing up and Halloween costumes. She also enjoyed decorating parade floats. Ron and Cheryl enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and dancing. She enjoyed canning salsa and was an incredible cook. Cheryl was an avid Husker football fan. As a young child Cheryl accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Her faith in Jesus was a big part of her life. Cheryl was a member of the Morton Elementary P.T.A. when the children were growing up and stayed very involved with the school. Survivors include her husband, Ron Blodgett of Litchfield, Nebraska; son, Patrick Payton of Litchfield, Nebraska; daughters, Cherie Lynn Payton of Fredericktown, Missouri, Shelly (Mitch) Allen of Hershey, Nebraska; Laurie (Barry) Bauer of Lexington, Nebraska and Crystal Blodgett of Claremore, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Dorrine Blodgett (fiancée John Strawn); thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, son, Rick; two sisters, Vivian and Carolyn. Celebration of Life Services will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington . Visitation will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
