Carol Ann Meyer

Carol Ann Meyer, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska.

She was born on September 2, 1940, in Farnam, Nebraska, to John and Gertrude (Hayworth) Bringelson. Carol attended public school in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1958. On September 6, 1958, Carol was united in marriage to Robert Meyer at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. Four children were blessed to this union: Robert, Jr., Rex, Amy, and Michelle.

In 1961, the family made their home in Lexington, where Carol owned and operated a local eatery named Park Place Sandwich Shoppe from 1988 until 1995. During this time, Carol was also working for Sav-A-Lot and had a long-standing career at the Lexington Clipper Herald that spanned 43 years until her retirement in 2020.

Carol was an avid bowling and softball fan, often playing during her younger years. She also loved watching Husker Sports with her friends and family. Family was a big part of Carol's life, and she greatly enjoyed spending her days following her children's and grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Meyer of Lexington; children, Robert (Lori) Meyer, Jr., of Sioux City, Iowa, Rex Meyer of Lexington, and Amy Atwell of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Stacey (Ikrom) Artikov, Jessica Ennen, Trevor (Tisha) Meyer, Shannon (Jake) Lewis, Renee Atwell, and Mary Atwell; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Isaac, Easton, Ethan, and Tyler; brother, John (Judy) Bringelson of Cozad, Nebraska; sisters, Karen Luttrell of Gothenburg, Marilyn (Dick) Wellensiek of Golden, Colorado and Nancy Werner of O’Neill, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Jerry (Deb) Meyer of Blue Springs, Kansas; sister-in-law, Deanna Remmers of Loxley, Alabama; as well as extended family and friends.

Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Anne Sentelle. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating. Services will be livestreamed via the Trinity Lutheran Church website at tlclex.org.

A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, with family receiving guests from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Inurnment will be held at Hillside Lutheran Cemetery north of Lexington, Nebraska.
